"Wherefore I put thee in rememberance that thou stir up the gift of God..." (2 Tim 1:6)

"The Sun and Moon" 8/31/01

I recently received a vision that greatly disturbed me. Now, I am not a prophet of renown or reputation. But I feel led to share this vision with the body, and humbly ask for your discernment and reaction.
I was engaged in prayer and suddenly it appeared to me. An eclipse of the sun by the moon. The larger object, the sun, was darkened behind the smaller object, the moon. This was odd in that the larger object, the sun, was darkened in it's circumference exposed behind the moon. It was not fiery red and bright as would be normally expected. The smaller object in front of the sun, the moon, was entirely darkened and visible only in contrast to the larger object behind it, the sun. I was startled and baffled at it's meaning. I decided to wait for confirmation.
Later, the same day, the same exact vision appeared to me. I immediately went to my bible and concordance. "Search the scriptures:...and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39) "...in that they recieved the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." (Acts 17:11)
The darkening of the sun and moon is spoken off by the Lord in Matt 24:29: "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken."
"The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:" (Joel 2:10) Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both of wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine." (Isaiah 13:10-11)
Such expressions are often employed by the prophets, to describe the convulsions of governments. God will visit them for their iniquity, particularly the sin of pride, which brings men low." (Matthew Henry)
I have watched with great interest the currents events in Israel. Amid the turmoil and strife, her enemies appear to be mobilizing against God's people. Whether or not this is a fulfillment of end times prophecy, only God in His infinite wisdom knows for sure. "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:8)
"Our Lord declares that the Jews should never cease to be distinct people, until all things he had been predicting were fulfilled. His prophecy reaches to the day of final judgement; therefore he here foretells that Judah shall never cease to exist as a distinct people, so long as this world shall endure. Men of the world scheme and plan for generation upon generation here, but they plan not with reference to the overwhelming, approaching, and most certian event of Christ's second coming, which shall do away with every human scheme, and set aside for ever all that God forbids." (Matthew Henry)
Brethren, now is the time for us to cast aside worldly concerns and cares. We must minister to our Lord with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. Pray that the United States will not abandon Israel so God will not abandon us. "And that, knowing the time, that now is high time to awaken out of sleep: for now our salvation nearer than when we believed." (Romans 13:11)
